Jestination Unknown is an attempt to answer the question, what does India find funny? The clubs and pubs of India's metros are only a sliver of an answer to that question. English stand-up comedy maybe new in India but comedy itself isn't new to the country. The people of this country have laughed at kings, foreigners, neighbors, relatives, and more importantly, themselves. In a time when jokes are considered offensive, what if India answered otherwise?
Vir Das, Anu Menon, and Amogh Ranadive travel to Patiala to find what the most alpha people in the country funny? Do they love the stereotypes, the terrible jokes on sardaars, and more importantly what do you have to say to make a Punjabi laugh? Along the way of course there's butter chicken, gedi, rap, and a dhabha.
In the city of palaces Vir Das takes two friends - an American who looks like an Indian, Raj Sharma, and an Indian who looks like a foreigner, Ashwin Mushran. What is it like to be a jester and make the king laugh? They go to meet the king but God decides to rain on their hopes. Literally. And of course, they do the touristy things like ride camels, eat local food, try local drugs. The usual.

In the city of love and kebabs and people who love to eat kebabs, Vir Das and his fellow comedians Shruti Seth and Amit Tandon try and go to the place where comedy in India began - not in the clubs and bars of India's cities - but in the halls of hasyakavis and shaayars of Lucknow. Along the way they learn to do the perfect aadaab, the tehzeeb and also Amit almost dies. Classic Lucknow.
For the season finale, Vir Das, Ashwin Mushran, and Raj Sharma go to the one place that barely has more mountains than people, and try to put up a comedy show there. They almost reach Tibet, they hang with donkeys, they dance on the streets will people turn up? What makes people in the harshest region in the world laugh?
